Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Peer Navigator. As a Peer Navigator, you will provide support and guidance to individuals who are experiencing challenges related to substance use disorder. Your role will involve using your personal experiences and expertise to help others navigate their journey towards recovery.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize your own experiences with substance use disorder to connect with and support individuals facing similar challenges
- Provide one-on-one support to individuals seeking assistance
- Educate individuals on available resources, treatment options, and coping strategies
- Assist in developing personalized recovery plans for each individual
- Advocate for clients' needs and rights within the system
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as social workers and addiction counselors, to ensure comprehensive care for clients
- Facilitate support groups and workshops to promote peer support and community engagement
- Help individuals develop effective communication skills, conflict management techniques, and healthy coping mechanisms
Skills:
- Personal experience with substance use disorder
- Strong empathy and ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to advocate, collaborate, and empower individuals in their recovery journey
- Strong organizational skills to effectively manage caseloads and documentation
- Conflict management skills to handle challenging situations with compassion and professionalism
- Familiarity with community resources
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries while providing peer support
